Thoughts on entrepreneurship: Use the negative for motivation

I suppose if you’re here, you’re looking for motivation to push you forward on your entrepreneurship journey. Sometimes, you may encounter difficult situations where you find yourself experiencing negativity as you hit hurdles in your business. One of the negative is experiencing jealousy. You see others meeting their goals rather effortlessly and you may wonder, why is it so easy for them and tedious for you. You may experience frustrations in your personal life that pull focus from your business. Perhaps you’re caught up in mental blocks that hinder your mental health because you feel stagnant. Regardless of the situation, know that you are not alone.

There are plenty of people like you and I going through the motions of creating, achieving and attaining success without the help of sponsors and investors. Your community will find you, and your tribe will grow. First, though, you need to take a step back and breathe. Go back to the drawing board and look at your strategies. Do you have enough content? Are you putting yourself out there? Sometimes we assume that we’re not achieving our goals faster because we’re stuck in our perception of our work. You perceive that others succeed effortlessly because they don’t publically broadcast their trials and tribulations. Everyone has their struggles. Whether they are large or small, businesses and their productivity rise and fall, and that’s part of the journey. Besides, imagine you peaked and met all your goals overnight without a strong foundation. Would the success be sustainable? You need to trust in your process and know that this is your journey.

Once you have taken a step back, look at all you have achieved in the past six to eight months. Even if you feel like it’s not enough, you’re sure to see that there are some results to analyse and motivate you. Next, you need to find a way to transmute the negative into a positive. This is why I say use it as motivation. Are you jealous of others? Look within and address the lack of self-esteem. Then look at their strategy and see if there are tips and tricks you can apply to your work. Maybe that person makes winning look easy because they wake up early to work out and prioritise their mental health. Whatever the case may be, study the people you deem successful and look at how you can apply changes to your routine to pull you away from the negativity.

Lastly, be grateful. We’re often so busy trying to secure the bag and shine that we forget to take time out to recognise our blessings. The fact that you have awakened to see your full potential, take steps to apply yourself and commit to making money doing what you love and what you’re good at is a blessing. There are people in the world who dream of having the nerve and audacity to follow their dreams, and instead, they’re stuck in jobs they hate. Some people don’t or can’t have jobs for personal reasons. You get to wake up and use your creativity, contributing to the evolution of society. So don’t succumb to the negativity and insecurities. Trust your journey.

Until next time.

Thoughts on personal development: The power of language – 3 Phrases to scrap from your vocabulary

Today’s post aims to bring awareness to your use of language. Communication is often misunderstood or misused, especially when we use specific negative language to talk to ourselves and others. Language is a powerful tool that can make or break your day. The words you choose have the opportunity to create a supportive community or conflict yet, sometimes we don’t even think twice about how we linguistically project ourselves to the world. We have the power to change ourselves, our reality and the world through the use of positive language by being conscious about what we consume and project. The following points are five words and phrases to be aware of and scrap from your vocabulary if you want to further pursue your self-development journey and create a reality you desire.

‘I can’t do this’

When it comes to achieving your goals, trying something new or even working on personal confidence, it’s good to begin to train your subconscious mind by using firm words that opens enthusiasm and prompts action. Using the word ‘Can’t’ automatically creates a negative bias and diminishes your confidence when your aim is to take action. Unless you are using this word in a situation where you are creating firm boundaries, using this word illustrates unsureness about your ability to utilise your strength, will power and motivation. If you know that you have the skills and resources to help you reach your goals, using ‘can’t’ will stir up doubt and cause your efforts to falter. This will also give people the impression that you don’t trust yourself. It takes time, however, try to replace ‘I can’t do this’ with ‘I can do anything I put my mind to’ and eventually simply ‘I CAN do this.’

‘I hate this, that and everyone’

This is one of the most commonly used phrases, and I have to admit that I have used it a few times in testing situations. When you think about the word hate, it’s not necessarily a negative word but rather a low-vibration word. We often use it in frustration and low-vibrational situations. When you’re on a journey of self-development and expanding consciousness, you’ll begin to understand that we are all connected to each other and our surroundings. Suppose you are in a low-vibrational environment or situation; your goal is to raise your frequency so that you are unaffected by external factors and instead, have the ability to transmute the chaos into your lessons and gains. How will you learn about yourself if you constantly carry a funk in your heart that’s not even yours? How can you grow into your highest and best version of yourself doing what you love if you’re projecting hatred and spending your valuable energy on people and situations that don’t serve you? I’m not suggesting that we walk around pretending to love everything and everyone. However, changing the word ‘hate’ and associating it with empathy, understanding, and learning will become more productive for you when life gets chaotic. When you build anger, or you feel a dislike for something, try to explore ‘I’m not keen on this, but at least I have experienced it and can move on’ or by taking a breath and acknowledging why you feel this ‘hate’ so that you can address the uncomfortable within.

‘I am sick’

Yes, we all have days when we fall under the weather, and ailments plague us, but it’s worth noting that you become what you consistently tell yourself you are and feel. Some days you can’t deny that you’re unwell, especially when you are swamped with extra stress. Instead of declaring ‘I am sick’, try ‘I am healing and I will rest’. This will slowly lift your mood and place your mind in a receptive mode to find resources to make you feel better and heal. I am not a doctor, and this is not a replacement for a medical appointment but to help support your thoughts as your body heals.

Remember that there are no golden formula or shortcuts to reach your goals and deal with situations along your journey. It’s all about perspective and changing angles to understand the lessons hidden in the chaos. Be aware of what you want to embody and what you put out in the world and onto others. Keep going and find ways to enjoy the experience.

Until Next time.

Thoughts on personal development: The importance of knowing your self-worth

How many times have you cut yourself short in this lifetime, hoping that one day someone will hand your success?
When you’re creating opportunities, It’s never easy to root yourself as a high-value asset that people would take seriously without feeling like you’re letting your ego lose control. Yet, you have to find a balance between your desire to be liked and your desire to be valued in the circle of life. People who like you won’t necessarily value your work or think that you’re worthy of success. This is why it’s crucial to think about what you’re contributing to the world and believe in your work. It’s essential to know your worth so that you don’t settle for less, which could potentially slow you down. To successfully achieve your goals in entrepreneurship and creative ventures, you need to have a level of self-delusion, that unrelenting belief in your craft that motivates you to keep evolving. As you continue to grow and learn from your mistakes and successes, make decisions that empower you to become the best version of yourself while working smarter to ensure that your goals are met effectively. If you don’t know your self-worth, it will become challenging to pitch your ideas. Hence, it opens an invitation for people to doubt you and for external factors to shake your foundation. Remember who you are.

Until next time.

Thoughts on success: Your dreams are yours and yours alone

It’s reasonable to think that because you support people in their business and creative ventures, that they would support yours too. The truth is, people are not all the same, and most wouldn’t choose to spend their money on buying your products and services if it isn’t in alignment with their lives. It’s important to understand that as much as you would like your friends, acquaintances and family to root their beliefs in your goals, most often, this won’t become a reality. The truth is, nobody can hold your dreams and goals with as much care as you. Nobody will push themselves towards the accomplishments of your success but you. YOU will put actions into motion towards your success, and only you will know the depth of your desires and motivation.

Take care of the self and keep going.

Until next time.

Thoughts on success: Stay motivated, even in undesirable situations

First of all, the fact that you’re here well and breathing in the current climate is a blessing. Please recognise that your efforts and the choices you’ve made have placed you on this whirlwind journey to self-discovery and growth. Secondly, understand that you always have a choice and that situations don’t last forever. Today’s topic will pull focus on how to stay motivated when you feel trapped in undesirable situations. This can be at work, in business or in creative ventures. There have been conversations from different corners of the internet, encouraging people to find their higher purpose and to strive towards building a business around it. Whether you have decided to build a business or flowing in the direction of expanding your creativity, it’s no secret that we all sometimes hit obstacles along the way. Whatever you decide to do, remember that you have a choice to give up or to keep going until you make it.

It’s not easy to put aside the time while working around other commitments to set action towards your goals. After all, we are humans, and we get tired and frustrated. When you find yourself feeling down and out, think about an icon in the current culture who inspires you, and remind yourself that you have the same amount of hours in the day as this person. Realise that they too had to go through adversities and make sacrifices before they got to where they are now. Stay focused on your passion for your creative projects by surrounding yourself with people who have similar goals, whether it’s online or in person. Repeat your affirmations to divert negative thoughts and to better attract your opportunities.

Trust the process and until next time.

Thoughts on food: The importance of cooking with purpose

When I think about cooking, I immediately think of my mother. For those who know me, know that my mother is the essence of my very being. Her meals are charged with high frequencies that pull me out of the deepest funk. Today, I will journal about the typical Seychellois dish that brings the family together. Even when we are far apart, this dish never fails to bring us joy.

When I think about my family and Seychelles, I think about the Fresh Grilled Red Snapper with Spicy Creole Sauce, Fresh Rice and Green Pawpaw Satini Papay. The colours glazed on the dining table, evoking a feeling of security, love, joy and compassion. As I enjoy eating the meal, I have to include that watching (because sometimes it’s better to let the professionals get on with it) or helping my mother cook her exceptional dishes is also a magical experience. She chops her ingredients as though they were just picked from the garden, washes the fish with care and infuses positive intentions as she folds the seasoning in the Satini. This is an alchemy that my elder brother also uses and never fails to impress and envelope the devourers who usually ask for a second serving. And you know the food is really delicious when we sit in silence or get stuck in with our (clean) fingers. This is one way we show love for one another and the community. There’s plenty to extend a bowl of nourishment for our extended family.

For the sweet-toothed, the traditional Ladob is usually a favourite after a Sunday lunch. The plantain and sweet potato, coconut milk, sugar and nutmeg is the foundation that brings warmth and a smile on my face reminiscent of the holiday cheer that compels me to top up my plate until bedtime. However, it’s not the type of dishes that make or break meal times, it’s the person’s energy that fulfils the purpose they want to convey. I find that it’s imperative to churn and actively add positive intention within every meal I cook as I want nothing but the best for my family and guests.

I dedicate Today’s post to my mother, my big brother and my Seychellois ancestors.

Until next time. xo

Thoughts on spirituality: Being The Higher Self

This post is dedicated as a reminder for you to find your inner balance and peace by knowing who you are. There are certain people, whether it’s complete strangers, in friendships, work colleagues, or family members that are low frequencies who intentionally or subconsciously are culprits of dragging you down to low-level situations that don’t serve your highest purpose. Suppose you can listen and observe carefully instead of blindly reacting to situations. You will understand and see that most people are out there to gain your confidence and friendship to fight their battles because they are unwilling to take responsibility for their own lives. These people are set within their ways, they are comfortable living in their toxic cycle, and they cannot function without drama. As much as you try to lend support and provide care, you have to use discernment and know that some people are out there just to use your energy and goodwill to boost their confidence and drama within their space since they can’t live without it.

Always find time to do the work within yourself to find your confidence because when you know yourself and what you stand for, you are more likely to have the courage and strength to stand up for YOU, your belief. It will also signal to these people that you cannot easily be lead to arguments and low-level situations. It is true that the higher you raise your frequency, the better you can deal with people as you realise that certain situations are not worth your time and energy.
We are now coming towards the end of 2020, and if you haven’t planted seeds for yourself, you still have time to do so and watch them grown, whether it’s for your health and wellness, creative and business ideas, or lending your knowledge to those who need it. This is an excellent approach to taking care and protecting yourself as when you walk with a strong and confident posture when you know who you are and what you stand for; nobody can approach you with their nonsense to sway you. Even if they did try, they wouldn’t be successful.

This post is to help and nudge you into remembering who you are. Please continue to do the work, and if you haven’t done any work within yourself, this is a great time to start. Find some time by yourself to figure out what you like, what you want to achieve, and what type of people you wish to surround yourself with. There is no time to slack as we need to move forward. We can’t engage in mundane garbage anymore as the world is moving forward, there may be two types of people. The alchemists understand and know that they can create opportunities for themselves and walk in their highest purpose, and the sheep who fall for anything and everything while waiting for people to fix their lives.

All the best.
